It is about to be firework season in Texas, a dreaded time for all of us dog owners.

It is especially annoying because it’s not just July 4th that people are setting off fireworks, it’s the days leading up to it and for month afterwards as people decide they’d rather keep the whole neighborhood awake on a random Tuesday night rather than just wait till next year.

If you aren’t a dog owner, then you likely don’t understand why this is extra obnoxious. Having a dog during firework season is like having a ball of anxiety attached to you that either shakes so hard your teeth chatter, yells so loud you can’t hear yourself think, or breaks your fence and runs away.

I’m grateful that my dog is relatively unbothered by fireworks, she is more of the ‘I want to snuggle until this is all over’ type. However, there are so many dogs that end up on the streets during this time of year because they are terrified and end up getting out of their yard.
