Carlsbad Caverns (3225 National Parks Hwy in Carlsbad, New Mexico) is a magic, beautiful place. It's a road trip that I feel is required seeing at least every few years. Walking down the natural entrance is like a pilgrimage to me. A lovely, sacred descent into the earth that bore us.

Famous for its many formations and its signature bat flights, Carlsbad Caverns is a worthy road trip for anyone, but especially families. The wonder on your kid's face is worth the cost of admission alone. However, Carlsbad Caverns is offering several fee free days this year:

Come experience Carlsbad Caverns National Park on these fee free days in 2019!
April 20: First day of National Park Week
August 25: National Park Service Birthday
September 28: National Public Lands Day
November 11: Veterans Day

For more information, head over to Carlsbad Cavern's official site.
