Earlier this week, the developers of a new housing development in Shallowater held a groundbreaking ceremony. The Highland Subdivisions of Shallowater features two sections: Highland Heights and Highland Trails.

Located within walking distance of Shallowater High School, Shallowater Middle School, Shallowater Elementary School, and Todd Field, The Highland Subdivisions of Shallowater will be located on the northside of Drew Street (FM 1294) between Avenue P and North Upland Avenue.

When phase one is completed, Highland Heights (pictured below) will feature 69 homes with full City of Shallowater utilities. The adjacent Highland Trails features 28 half-acre size lots with electricity, Shallowater city water and on-site septic.

Homes for Highland Heights will start in the $200,000s, and in the $300,000s for Highland Trails. Neither section of homes has a Homeowner's Association and all lots have alleyway access.

Other amenities include: a park, lake, playground and Crossfit area to be built on land in the middle of 13th Street and Drew Street, between Avenue Q and Avenue S.

Kyle Carruth, with Vitruvian Development, tells KFYO News that lots will become permitable this Summer. He also adds that work is currently taking place within the development for street construction and utility installation.

Commercial lots and garden offices will also be adjacent to homes along Drew Street and on Avenue N, when it is extended north of Drew Street.

Both developments have additional phases to be built-out over future years. When fully completed, Highland Trails would feature 293 homes and Highland Heights, 68 homes.
