As we continue our descent into complete self-absorption, it's good to know the latest way to properly take a selfie so you don't look like a loser on social media. I must admit though, I found the "surprise face" a bit of a challenge.

Basically, the "surprise face" is acting like somebody just told you something shocking or an "OMG" moment caught on camera. Mashable does their best to explain the trend.

Basically you take a picture with your mouth open looking like a jackass (something my father would have said). Hopefully, a bug doesn't fly into your mouth while you're trying to pull off the surprised look; I'm not sure if the "I just swallowed a bug look" is going to be hip anytime soon.

I'm not an actor nor do I have aspirations to be one, so it's hard for me to do a faux surprised face. Plus, I hate surprises. Normally I'm not surprised, but more scared out of my wits.
