Jordan Peele ‘Definitely’ Considering a ‘Get Out’ Sequel
Get Out went from word-of-mouth box office sensation to Best Picture heavy-hitter over the course of 12 months, and while director Jordan Peele is currently working on a project disconnected from his feature debut, he says that he hasn’t completely ruled out returning to that world.
While answering a few questions during the Academy’s Nominees Night, Peele said that he would “definitely” think about possibly making a Get Out sequel.
I will definitely, seriously consider it. I love that universe and feel like there’s more story to tell. I don’t know what it is now, but there are some loose ends, if you know the movie.
I’m not exactly sure what a sequel could deal with now that the big twist has been revealed, but maybe Peele would do a kind of prequel, explaining how this horrific group of body snatchers came to be. Or it could be like The Invitation, with cells of these people operating around the country and Lil Rel Howery’s TSA agent Rod Williams traveling around stopping them one by one.
Then again, it’ll probably be a while before we see anything Get Out related from Peele, who has an extremely full slate of gigs lined up for the next few years after dazzling us all with his very first movie. He’s got another social thriller-horror coming out next year that’s unrelated to Get Out, not to mention a Spike Lee collaboration and a Twilight Zone reboot coming to CBS. Peele’s not going away anytime soon.
