Former Red Raiders Find New Home Courts for 2020
The Texas Tech recruiting class in 2020 is the best recruiting class Texas Tech has ever signed. That doesn't guarantee anything, but with limited roster spots, it did limit opportunities for two Red Raiders that were on the roster last season. Both Andrei Savrasov and Russell Tchewa decided to make a move that would offer some more assurances on playing time and a bigger role.
Savrasov will be joining a familiar situation with his new head coach at Georgia Southern Brian Burg. Both Savrasov and Burg were at Texas Tech last season and will continue on together as Savrasov committed to the school via an announcement on twitter.
Big man and fan-favorite Russell Tchewa has also found a new home. He'll be attending the University of South Florida. The Bulls were 14-17 last season and 7-11 in the American Athletic Conference with schools like Houston, SMU and Memphis.
Tchewa will have plenty of space to spread his wings in the Bulls offense and should develop into a nice defensive addition to their roster.
Both Savrasov and Tchewa transformed themselves at Texas Tech and will be better players after learning for a full season with Beard and his entire staff. From the nutrition program Beard has set up to the strength and conditioning wizard John Reilly, these players that leave Texas Tech are definitely in a better position than when they committed to Texas Tech.
Josh Mballa left the Red Raider program prior to last season and went to Buffalo this past season and averaged 10 points and just over nine rebounds a game. That's what spending a year in the Red Raider system will do for a prospect.
