You love to see this level of thought and care put forth for our local community, by our local community.

Lubbock's FirstBank & Trust and StarCare Specialty Health System are teaming up to basically ensure local kids have some gifts this Christmas.

According to a press release sent by FirstBank & Trust, their employees are donating gifts to give to kids receiving treatment from StarCare.

FirstBank employees' donated gifts will be combined with gifts that the public is being invited to donate. Folks can drop off a gift or two at a curbside collection located at 9816 Slide Road (FirstBank's Centre branch) on Thursday, December 3rd, 2020 between 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 and 5 p.m. Just look for the flagpoles near the northeast section of the building.

If you didn't know, StarCare is a health system that focuses on treating people who've been diagnosed with a mental illness or an intellectual disability. They do great work for the Lubbock community within a field that still unfortunately has a lot of stigma around it. They also work with people suffering from substance abuse disorders. Their mission, according to their official website, is to "provide access to a diverse array of specialty healthcare services that support and empower people as valued members of the community."

So if you're able to this year, donate a gift for this cause -- or any cause, for that matter. Christmas for so many local families just won't be the same this year thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. A simple act can make a big difference, as cliche as that sounds.
