Lubbock Police Arrest Father After Child Found Alone in Hotel
A Lubbock father was arrested for an unrelated outstanding warrant after his child was discovered wandering the halls of a local hotel unattended.
On Monday, April 26th, a woman saw a child standing by themselves near an elevator on the 3rd floor of a hotel. That hotel was located in the 4800 block of South Loop 289. The woman took the child to the front desk and asked if there was a missing child reported, but there wasn't.
Lubbock police officers eventually arrived on scene and located the child's father on the 3rd floor of the hotel. The father told officers that he suspected the child opened the door on their own and just walked out. Police said that the father wasn't "too concerned that the child had walked out."
KAMC News reports that the mother, however, was contacted soon afterwards and appeared to be alert and concerned with the situation. The child was located with a soiled diaper, but didn't seem to need any sort of medical attention. With that information considered, Child Protective Services determined that the mother seemed fit enough to provide supervision to the child, so they were released into the mother's custody.
The father ended up being arrested by Lubbock Police for an unrelated outstanding warrant. The charges against him weren't made immediately clear, and his identity remains unknown.
