Why Are People on Facebook Saying They’re Putting Butter on Their Bodies & Pretending to Be Slugs?

There's a new trend sweeping Facebook where users say that they like to put butter on themselves, lay inside a sleeping bag and act like a slug.

Apparently, this weird Facebook status update is tied to breast cancer awareness -- more specifically, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Here's exactly what the status update says:

I know nobody will read my status but sometimes, when I'm bored, I get wrapped up in a sleeping bag and lather butter all over myself and slide around the kitchen floor pretending I'm a slug.

While it's unclear what butter, slugs and sleeping bags have to do with breast cancer, far be it for us to rain on a parade intending to improve awareness about such a deadly and widespread disease.
