Panera Employee Exposes Their Green Tea ‘Secret Formula’
TikToker Dylan Smith recently posted a video exposing the ‘secret formula’ of Panera’s Passionfruit Papaya Green Tea.
Smith regularly posts videos about working at Panera, including how they set up the bakery display, how they make their smoothies, and now, as requested, how their green tea is made. Apparently, their green tea is one of the most loved drinks, and many people want to know how to make it at home.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to make the tea at home based on what Smith showed in his video. After pouring a cup of tea, he shows the back of a bottle that is the same green color as the tea, and says Passionfruit Papaya Green Tea and is from the brand The Republic of Tea.

Upon further inspection of the bottle, it gives you instructions on how to use the contents of the bottle. Apparently, the tea is made from a concentrate that is then added to five times the amount of water. The bottle also says “brewed green tea blended with tropical passion fruit and papaya.” It also has a specific list of ingredients on the label.
After looking at The Republic of Tea’s website, it looks like you can’t order the concentrate directly from them. So, people are assuming that it is exclusive to Panera. Of course, fans of the tea are bummed that they can’t just order the concentrate and make the tea at home, but keep in mind that you can purchase a gallon of tea from Panera if you wish to have some at home.
There are also probably some dupes out there that would have a similar flavor to this tea. I would suggest trying the Arizona green tea concentrate that you can purchase at some stores, and then trying out some different fruit juices or syrups until it tastes similar.
Despite the disappointment of not having a real recipe, at least now we know that they have their own special concentrates for their drinks.
