Earthquakes Recorded in Snyder and Irving
The United States Geological Survey reported two earthquakes in Texas on Tuesday, December 6.
The first earthquake occurred three miles northeast of Irving and measured in at a 3.5 magnitude on the Richter scale. The quake was recorded just after 3:10 p.m.
The second earthquake, also measured with a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale, occurred 14 miles northeast of Snyder just before 6 p.m.
Both quakes are considered small, but a seismicity map provided by the USGS shows the relatively low number of quakes that have occurred in the state during the last 30 years.
Another 2.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Dallas region in December of 2014.
