Drunk Lubbock man Found Passed out in Vehicle After Night out
A Lubbock man was found in a vehicle after striking the owner. The Lubbock Police Department was dispatched a residence in the 5700 block of Itasca Street shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday, December 21.
KAMC news reported that the victim in this case told officers that they knew the suspect, 25-year-old Jonathan Jones, after serving him at his restaurant job on Tuesday, December 20. Jones reportedly invited the suspect out to a bar after work that night and became very intoxicated and agitated about his personal relationship. After the victim and Jones talked about his relationship with a woman they both knew the victim took Jones back to his home due to his high level of intoxication.
After arriving at the victims home Jones is said to have lost control and started yelling about his relationship before storming out of the house towards the car, that was left on. The suspect then got into the victim's car and as he started to leave the victim attempted to get into the vehicle through the window at which time Jones hit him in the nose. The victim did manage to hold onto the car as Jones reversed the vehicle but then lost his grip, that's when Jones drove forward.
While laying in the driveway the victims hand was run over with the rear passenger side tire as Jones drove the vehicle forward while he left the scene. The Lubbock Police Department did eventually find Jones passed out in the vehicle at the intersection of North Chicago Avenue and Harvard Street.
Jones was arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle while also having multiple existing warrants for his arrest. As per the publishing of this article Jones currently remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center on bonds totaling $65,000. The vehicle was successfully returned to the victim after Jones arrest.
