Game Warden and Public Information Officer Aaron Sims joined Lubbock's First News Thursday (August 27) to discuss dove season, which begins Tuesday, September 1.

Sims clarified exactly how many doves local hunters can bag per day and warned against "double bagging."

"Each species has a set bag limit for that species depending on where you are," said Sims. "Now dove, it's going to be fifteen per person per hunting day. That does not mean someone can go out and get fifteen in the morning, go home, put those up and then go out and get fifteen in the evening. That's called double bagging."

For more information on Texas hunting regulations, visit the Outdoor Annual website, pick up an Outdoor Annual for free at any sporting goods retailer or download the free Outdoor Annual app on your smartphone. The app detects what county you're in, shows bag limits and season for your county (each county varies).
