Doubletree Lubbock by Hilton will host their grand opening on Tuesday, January 26th, 2021 at 505 Ave. Q from 4 to 6 p.m.

According to their Facebook event page:

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be held promptly at 4:00pm and tours will be available by appointment only [due to COVID, mask required as well] starting at 4:30pm to view this beautiful new Hotel and Restaurant!

Doubletree was formerly a Radisson Hotel, but had sat vacant for over five years. According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal:

The DoubleTree by Hilton Lubbock - University Area will feature over 4,000 square feet of meeting space, a full-service restaurant and bar and other high-class amenities

They also added a six-story tall atrium area, which I'm sure is stunning.

Claraboya is the chef-operated restaurant that is inside the hotel, with Antonio Pena serving as Executive Chef.

In addition to serving Texas Tech student's parents and folks with business in downtown Lubbock, it also sounds like the perfect spot for an elevated staycation.

According to their Facebook:

The Doubletree Lubbock University Area is the only downtown hotel that offers the full service Hilton promise. Our beautiful hotel offers 6 floors of spacious rooms and premium suites that will accommodate your every need.

I think this lovely new hotel will be of great benefit to the area. Honestly, as it sat vacant, it started to become an eye-sore, in addition to being a huge waste of space and potential. Having another option adjacent to Texas Tech will surely benefit the student, parents, and the college sports fans who provide a massive influx of tourism dollars to our city.
