Does Texas Have An Age Limit On Trick Or Treating?

We are getting closer to Halloween which means final touches on costumes, decorations are going up, and candy is flying off shelves. This weekend different churches and organizations will host trunk or treats and you may even see a Halloween party or two this weekend.
And then, Monday arrives. Halloween night when the little ghosts, goblins, Avengers, and princesses get out to walk to door collecting candy. For most, it is no big deal. No one really has a problem with little kids trick or treating. But what if the trick or treater in your house isn't so little? What if the trick or treater is 12 years old? What if they are a teenager? How old is too old for kids to go tricking and is there a law in Lubbock or a law in Texas that sets age restrictions on trick or treating?
As far as laws in Texas or local codes in Lubbock go, no there are no legal age restrictions for trick or treating. Personally, I've answered the door and seen older teenagers asking for candy. I've also seen parents carrying a baby trick or treating. So in the eyes of the law, there are no age restrictions in Texas. But that could always change. According to Parents.com, some towns across the United States do have laws in place. Some places have banned kids 14 and older from trick or treating while some cities in Virginia ban trick or treating after the age of 12.
So while there might not be a law in Texas limiting the age when someone can go trick or treating, the consensus seems to be somewhere between 12 and 14 years old is when the trick or treating should stop.
