I am a huge fan of Minor League baseball. The team names are the right mix of hilarious and legitimate. The Rumble Ponies, The Chiuauas, The Biscuits, The Sod Poodles, The Isotopes, The Rough Riders, and The Trash Pandas just to name a few. Those names get even better when teams do special names for several games a season like when the San Antonio Missions become The Flying Chanclas.

In the spirit of the whacky name for a few games, the Corpus Christi Hooks have decided to go all-in by wearing a Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit uniform every Wednesday during the 2021 season.

You can see them here and even shop for the gear below:

Now, I'm all for shameless advertising but is this not too far? I've just laid out that I like the crazy names, but this is too far.

For one, the honey butter chicken biscuit from Whataburger is wildly overrated. I know people love it and it's a sandwich that has a cult following, but I'm not a fan at all. The biscuit is too dry, the chicken is also dry and the sauce is inconsistent. Maybe they can fool the drunken college student who thinks anything is tasty at 3:00 a.m., but I don't believe that anyone is rocking out with the chicken biscuit stone-cold sober at 9 a.m.

Second of all, what is this NASCAR? We're getting advertising on uniforms in other leagues already, but the entire uniform as a Whataburger billboard? Count me out. Especially since it's the worst menu item at the restaurant. If it was the Corpus Christi Bacon Egg and Cheese Taquitos I think I could get behind it, but the stripes mimicking the A-Frame for a restaurant not even based in Texas anymore is a step too far for me.
