Daniel Craig Finally Confirms He’s Returning for ‘Bond 25’
So when Daniel Craig said he would rather slash his wrists than do another James Bond, I guess he was, uh, exaggerating slightly for comedic effect?
Either that or he changed his mind! Because last night on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Daniel Craig finally confirmed: Yes, he will star in Bond 25. “I couldn’t be happier,” he told Colbert. I mean, it sounded before like he couldn’t have been happier if he never played James Bond again before. But that was then, this is now.
Craig also revealed that the decision has been made, though not announced, for “a couple of months” while they “figured things out” behind the scenes. “I always wanted to [make another],” he added. That’s when Colbert pointed out the infamous slashed wrists quote - which Daniel Craig addressed. “It was two days after I finished shooting [Spectre]” Craig explained. At that point, he was exhausted and gave what he called a “stupid answer.” That does make a little sense, I suppose.
So it’s a done deal: Craig is back as Bond. Now it’s on to the next big question: Just now much of a sequel to Spectre will Bond 25 be? When last we saw James Bond (SPOILERS for Spectre) he essentially road off into the sunset with his new love, Madeleine Swann (Lea Seydoux), after apprehending his arch-foe Blofeld (Christoph Waltz). It would have a nice farewell for Craig’s version of the character ... except now it won’t be the farewell for Craig’s version of the character. So will Waltz return? Will Seydoux? And how much of the revelations about Blofeld and his relationship to Bond will be addressed this time? We will find out when Bond 25 opens in theaters in November of 2019.
