Consideration for Proposed Changes to Lubbock Noise Ordinance Postponed Again
Monday morning, Lubbock City Councilwoman Shelia Patterson Harris released a brief statement announcing the city council won't consider changes to Lubbock's noise ordinance at their upcoming meeting on Thursday, February 23.
"I appreciate all the people who have come forward to discuss amending the City’s noise ordinance. I want to make sure that any changes take into account the ideas and concerns that have been expressed to me and the City Council. That is why I will be asking that the discussion of this item, currently scheduled for the February 23rd City Council Meeting, be postponed. I feel additional information and citizen input are needed before I can make a proposal that is fair to all those who would be affected," said Patterson Harris in a released statement.
A number of Lubbock business owners and live music fans spoke out against proposed changes to Lubbock's noise ordinance back in January. Mayor Dan Pope was also not in favor of making changes to the noise ordinance last month.
Patterson Harris in both January, and February of this year, placed items on city council meeting agendas to consider making changes to the noise ordinance.
