There are so many amazing animals in Lubbock that need good homes. Whether they were found as strays, surrendered by their previous owners, or any other circumstance. No animal deserves to be left of the streets or stuck to live in a shelter for the rest of their life.

I am a major proponent of adopting animals rather than buying them due to the sheer volume of animals in shelters and needing homes. Because of this, I will always cheer on local shelters and rescues that are doing their best to provide the best chance for animals to find a loving family to call their own.

In order to try and get as many pets out of their care and into their ‘furever’ homes, the Lubbock Animal Shelter is hosting a Clear the Shelter Event this August.

On August 25th and 26th, 2023, all adoption fees will be waived. This means you can come adopt a pet from them for free. Every adoptable animal in spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and treated for fleas and ticks

The shelter will also be giving out goodie bags with each adoption. These goodie bags will have prizes in them as a way to say thank you for providing a home for the animal you adopted.

They always have a variety of puppies, kittens, adult dogs, and adult cats available for adoption, and you can check their Facebook page for an idea of some of the long-stay dogs they currently have that are in extra need of a home.
