The late great Etta James' funeral was Saturday. It was a star-studded affair, hosted by the Reverend Al Sharpton. Stevie Wonder was there and President Obama made a video for the ceremony. But it was Christina's performance that is making the rounds today. I'm trying to not pull this performance apart because it was at a funeral, but I always feel like Christina is just showing off these days.

It seemed like the pianist was ready to rock whenever she was when she took the stage, but she just kept going. When she finally launched into the song she sang so many runs that I couldn't listen to it. The song was lost for me.

I think she should have just stayed true to the version that Etta made famous. That is how you pay true tribute to an inspiration. However many of you will like her version so I'll let you decide.
