Chris Beard Tried to Congratulate Texas Tech Basketball, Tech Fans Did Not Accept It
Texas Tech won a tough and gritty matchup against a ranked Tennessee team on Tuesday, December 7th in an overtime thriller that most people wanted to end in regulation. The final was 57-52, and nobody shot particularly well.
Terrance Shannon Jr. was the best player on the floor finishing the game with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Davion Warren and Kevin Obanor added 10 points apiece while Kevin McCullar and Daniel Batcho both got to double digits in rebounds at 11 and 10 respectively.
Through nine games of the season, the minutes of the team are really shaking out. Shannon, Obannor and McCullar all played more than 40 minutes with Overtime included. Batcho and Warren both got to 27 minutes. Bryson Williams and Adonis Arms were the only other Red Raiders to play more than ten minutes of game time.
It was Batcho that impressed the most with four points, two blocks, and 11 boards in those minutes he received.
After the game former Red Raider head basketball coach Chris Beard tried to congratulate current head coach Mark Adams and the team for the tough victory.
The Tweet was innocent enough.
I wondered to myself why he didn't just shoot Adams a text. After reading the replies and quote tweets, I bet Beard wondered that himself.
Here's a taste:
There were more than 270 quote tweets at time of publishing and more than 200 comments as well. Most of them slamming Beard, the rest was Texas Longhorn fans
