‘Child’s Play’ Reboot Trailer: Friends Til the End (Of the Franchise)
There’s a new Child’s Play reboot coming, based on the classic ’80s horror movie. That means there’s also an all-new Chucky, the killer doll who terrorizes his owner while wearing an adorable sweater and overalls combo. And that also means that today the first trailer for the remake is here. Watch it above.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
A contemporary re-imagining of the 1988 horror classic, CHILD’S PLAY follows Karen (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother who gifts her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature.
Those darn Buddi dolls. They’re so sinister in nature!
This film is the first Child’s Play — the eighth to date for those keeping score at home — made without the involvement of Don Mancini, the franchise’s creator. He’s currently working on a Chucky TV series, that’s coming to Syfy soon. So if you want the O.G. Chucky, you can have it, and if you want a new Chucky terrorizing Aubrey Plaza and Brian Tyree Henry, you can have that. There’s a Child’s Play for everyone!
Child’s Play opens in theaters on June 21. The new Chucky TV series will follow shortly after. And then no one will buy their child a cute doll ever again.
