Brandy is a gifted R&B songbird who is beloved all over the world -- except in New York. Well, not actually. The “I Wanna Be Down” singer was trying to impress New Yorkers with her singing abilities and the end result: she received crickets.

In a blog post titled “Can a Sistah Get One Fan,” she details her attempt to wow people commuting on the New York City subway with her rendition of “Home” from the 1975 Broadway musical The Wiz.

"Recently, Frank Silent and I took a little subway ride after I'd left the gym. Frank, his camera, and I always equal a good time," she writes. "I decided to hit the subway and sing my little heart out. You've GOTTA check out this video and see why this fun-filled morning left me asking: Can a Sistah get ONE fan?!"

In the hilarious clip above, the 36-year-old singer disguised herself as she rode the subway and performed "Home" but no one cared. Not one person reacted. It's both funny and completely New York.

“People in New York are so rude, like, oh my god. Like, I just sang from the heart," joked Brandy. She then turned to the camera and quivered her lip as if she was going to cry.

Only one man gave her a compliment. “Don’t be scared. You got talent man, go for it,” he told the Grammy Award-winning songstress.

Don't worry, it was all in good fun and Brandy took it in stride -- although her ego might have been bruised just a little.
