Bicyclist Struck by Pickup & Two Rollover Accidents Along Slaton Highway
Several traffic accidents occurred over the weekend; two occurred inside the Lubbock city limits and another three along the Slaton Highway.
A single-vehicle crash on Saturday, December 18th, at the Marsha Sharp Freeway and University Avenue put one in the hospital.
Lubbock Police responded to the crash at 11:40 p.m. in the 4000 block of the Marsha Sharp Freeway. Upon arrival, one person was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are unknown at this time.
A bicyclist was struck by a pickup truck as well on Saturday.
Lubbock Police were called to the incident at approximately 6:40 p.m. at 27th Street and Avenue Q. The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
On Friday, December 17th, three separate crashes happened along Slaton Highway near East County Road 7540 and Mango Avenue.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reports the first incident took place around 5:15 p.m., the second at 5:40 p.m., and the third at 6:10 p.m.
The first two accidents were single-vehicle rollovers while the last accident involved a sheriff's vehicle with nobody inside.
In all three collisions, only one individual was taken to University Medical Center with injuries described as minor.
