Be Careful Over the 4th of July – Texas DPS Is Stepping Up Enforcement Efforts
With the 4th of July Holiday upon us, the Texas DPS wants you to know they will be stepping up enforcement.
From the Texas Department of Public Safety:
DPS Troopers and other law enforcement agencies will be out in force looking for traffic violators and impaired drivers over the Fourth of July holiday," said DPS Director Steven McCraw. "If you plan to consume alcohol, there is no excuse for not designating a sober driver or planning ahead for alternate transportation. DPS urges Texans to celebrate responsibly and take extra precautions to help keep everyone safe.
Just to show you how serious the DPS is stepping up enforcement, last year during the 4th of July holiday, DPS troopers issued 98,000 tickets/warnings to motorists, arrested 529 folks for DWI along with almost 700 felony arrests.
So be safe out there, wear your seat belt and DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!
