Avicii’s Brother Heads to Oman for Answers Following DJ’s Death
On Friday (April 20), the music world was shocked to learn about the death of electronic dance music producer and DJ Avicii. The 28-year-old was found dead in Muscat, Oman and now his brother, David Berling, is searching for answers.
According to an April 21 report from TMZ, Berling checked into an upscale hotel in Muscat on Friday evening, just hours after Avicii, real name Tim Berling, was found dead. The publication reports the hotel Berling is staying at is about 15 minutes away from where Avicii was vacationing.
Reports from the DJ's native Sweden claim he checked out of Muscat Hills sometime last week, but his brother is now searching for where exactly he and a group of friends went during the days leading up to his death.
In 2016, Avicii announced he would no longer be touring saying he had "too little left for the life of a real person behind the artist." In a heartfelt letter to his fans, the DJ wrote, "Two weeks ago, I took the time to drive across the U.S. with my friends and team, to just look and see and think about things in a new way. It really helped me realize that I needed to make the change that I’d been struggling with for a while."
Following news of Avicii's death, the late artist received an outpouring of love from some of music's biggest names. Stars such as Calvin Harris, Charlie Puth, Liam Payne and more all paid their respects on social media.
