Another Red Raider Suffers a Season-Ending Injury
Texas Tech defensive back Seth Collins will miss the remainder of the 2020 season with an injured shoulder.
Head Coach Matt Wells dropped the news during his press conference Monday afternoon (October 26th). Wells said the injury was from the Iowa State game where Collins suffered a fractured shoulder.
Collins, a converted defensive back this year, has been injured throughout his career. In 2017, at Oregon State, Collins missed the final nine games for an injury. In 2019, his second season at Texas Tech, he broke his collarbone during the spring and missed the entire season.
Now, in 2020, Collins is missing major time again.
The interesting part in this scenario is that every player in college football will be able an extra year of eligibility because of the wild circumstances of this season. Collins could return for his sixth season of eligibility. When asked about that possibility, Wells said Collins was "more than thinking about."
Wells continued, saying, "Seth has had some tremendously unfortunate circumstances." The head coach then moved on to what makes Collins so great. "He's a mentally tough guy... He cares about Texas Tech and he's a really great teammate. I hope he does come back if he wants to."
Wells also mentioned he thought most of the guys who missed last week had a good chance to play this week.
