Anime WTX, Lubbock’s 1st-Ever Anime Convention, Was a Huge Success [Photos]
This past weekend (January 25th-27th) marked the first ever Anime WTX, which is also the first hotel anime convention to ever hit anywhere in West Texas.
And this is the point in which I get to smugly say "I told you so" to everyone who ever thought Lubbock couldn't host something fun, something cultural and something wholly different, and succeed with it. It was a huge success -- not only in ticket sales, but in pure, wholesome, unabashed fun.
The vibe was incredible. There were so many happy costumed people all getting to share something they all love, whether it was anime, Japanese fashion, food and culture, or gaming, like we saw in the Fortnite and Super Smash Bros. tournaments.
The entire weekend was jam packed with activities, panels, screenings, tournaments, parties and more. And I got to talk to Eric Vale, who was so nice and so cool and oh my god was I nervous. I'll never forget it.
Personally, I had a really wonderful time and went home with so many fun and beautiful things, including original artwork from my new favorite Sprinkle Bat, plushes, stickers, prints, and so much Japanese candy. There is no better candy on planet earth than Hi Chew.
