The San Diego Padres minor league system got a new AA squad this off-season and a name has finally been made official. After months of waiting, the new team in Amarillo are named, 'The Sod Poodles'.

It's not the first time we have heard the name Sod Poodles. That was the winning name in a poll that was created by the team after a naming contest that featured names like Long Haulers and Jerky.

Not everyone loves the name but least they already have their theme song already made!

In a live press conference broadcast on the team's Facebook page earlier today, they made the announcement along with the color scheme and logos.

Here is a first look at the logo the team will be wearing:

Looking ahead to the 2019 season, the Sod Poodles should be pretty talented as the San Diego Padres farm system ranks as the best in baseball according to Bleacher Report and MLB.com.

It's also likely that Grant Little, who was drafted by the Padres, will be a Sod Poodle at some point in the next few seasons.
