Adventure Park's newest addition is a scary-good time, and we got to check it out before it opened to the public.

Haunted Woods is a spooky stroll through an abandoned campground located in a wooded area just behind the Lubbock park. Visitors must follow hanging lanterns, lest they veer off the path and the ghouls get them.

The scares begin at an abandoned camper, where it's definitely not s'mores being roasted over a fire. The sprawling area opens up into an eerily quiet pond with a creaky, old wooden bridge bringing you deeper into the woods.

You won't walk a few steps without seeing lurching zombies or grotesque, shudder-inducing imagery. We heard plenty of screams from other early visits to the haunt.

To compliment the month-long event and celebrate fall in general, the park has also cooked up two new treats: Pumpkin cream cheese pizza, and zombie swamp juice, which tastes much better than it sounds.

Haunted Woods opens at 7:30 p.m. every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from September 27th to November 2nd, 2019. Entry is $9.99 with a Day Pass purchase to Adventure Park, or $13.99 for just the Haunted Woods attraction. If your kids aren't at least 12 years old, you may want to think twice about bringing them. But there's no firm age restriction.

Visit Adventure Park's Facebook page for more info on the event.
