Now that spring has hit Lubbock, we know that tornado season is upon us....sure to keep an eye out for any tornado watch or warning alerts.

With tornado season being only a couple of weeks away, here’s a reminder to stay alert throughout the duration of a tornado watch...Many times, tornado watches will last well into the night.

About a year and a half ago Lubbock installed tornado sirens, and Texas Tech had them long before that....And now the confession, I have NEVER heard a tornado siren in this town, for a test or an emergency.

And my experience is that most dust devils are pretty small, meaning the vast majority of people would never mistake one for a tornado...And then you hear a woman say, “I’ve never seen a tornado before.” Thankfully, she still hasn’t.
