The R&B game this year was filled with breakthrough efforts, trap-soul introductions, vintage soul debuts and classic albums from your favorite artists. So we compiled a list of the Best R&B Albums of 2015.

Two singers in particular delivered the best R&B albums of the year. Adele’s beautifully epic LP, 25, and the Weeknd’s stellar effort, Beauty Behind the Madness, were by far the most enjoyable listens in 2015.

This year also saw the return of some classic soul music. Andra Day’s Cheers to the Fall and Leon BridgesComing Home were two albums that featured retro soul music but their lyrics were contemporary and relatable.

Elsewhere, fans got to listen to the coming-of-age travelogues of Alessia Cara and Kehlani, whose debut projects, Know-It-All and You Should Be Here, respectively, featured reflective lyrics on love and life. In addition, R&B newcomer Bryson Tiller introduced us to his TRAPSOUL.

Meanwhile, veteran artists like Ne-Yo, Estelle, Jill Scott and Tyrese hanged with the young-and-hungry artists and released noteworthy projects as well. Finally, fans rejoiced over the return of Janet Jackson who released a very soulful effort, Unbreakable, her first album in over seven years.

Overall, there's something for everyone whether you are a fan of trap-soul, traditional soul or pop-inspired R&B. So without further ado, here are the 20 Best R&B Albums of 2015.
