With summer Blockbusters on the way I have to say tthat the silver screen has been offering up some really good movies during the so-called "off season" and this week end is no exception. Here is what Hollyweird has to offer this weekend:

"Wrath of the Titans" (PG-13)
Sam Worthington is back as the Greek hero Perseus after defeating the Kraken in the "Clash of the Titans". Liam Neeson is Zeus and Ralph Fiennes is also back as Voldemort, I mean Hades. It's ten years later, and Hades has betrayed Zeus and helped free the rest of the titans. So now Zeus' father Kronos is going to destroy mankind . . . unless Perseus can rescue Zeus from the underworld.

"Bully" (Unrated)
This documentary follows five kids who've been affected by bullying, and includes stories about the bullying-related suicides of an 11-year-old and a 17-year-old. It also features a 16-year-old lesbian who was forced out of sports and run down by a van full of boys and a 14-year-old with a felony arrest because she used her mom's gun to scare the kids bullying her. A lot of people think teenagers need to see this movie the most, especially given the statistics cited in the trailer: 13 million kids will be bullied in the U.S. this year, and 3 million are absent each month because they don't feel safe in school. Unfortunately, the Motion Picture Association tacked an R rating onto it because of the language, and the studio lost their fight to get it lowered to a PG-13. So "Bully" is being released UNRATED, and it's up to individual theaters who can see it.
AMC has already weighed in on how they're handling it. If you're under 17 and you're not accompanied by a guardian, you have to bring a signed permission slip that you can download from their website.

"Goon" (PG-13)
This hockey comedy stars Seann William Scott as a guy who's asked to join a team just because he can beat the crap out of people. Eugene Levy is his disapproving dad, Jay Baruchel is his best friend, and Liev Schrieber is a rival from another team.
