There have been songs written about everything from cars, to pets, to the seasons. And well, with summer coming up here are my top 5 Pop summer songs!

#5 - LFO - Summer Girls - In 1999, "Summer Girls" was nominated for a Billboard Music Award for Top Selling Single of the Year sadly in 2010 Rich Giles passed away from  Lukemia.

#4 - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince Summertime - (From Rolling Stone) Will Smith – a.k.a. the Fresh Prince – was just becoming a household name when he released "Summertime" in May of 1991. Built around a sample of Kool & The Gang's 1974 classic "Summertime," the song was all over the radio at a time when The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air just wrapped up its first season.

#3 - Bananarama - Cruel Summer - For summer days when you're feeling down, Bananarama's "Cruel Summer" is the companion who understands your discontent. The somewhat downbeat dance-pop track, which cozied up to the Hot 100 in 1983, bemoans the harsh heat of loneliness that can make any summer a drag.

#2 - Justin Timberlake - Summer Love - While many summer tunes are relaxed, breezy numbers, Justin Timberlake took his danceable 2007 "Summer Love" in a refreshingly poppy, electronic direction. Timberlake devotees and casual fans alike flocked to the song, giving it a No. 6 climax on the Hot 100.

#1 John Travolta and Olivia Newton John - Summer Nights From Grease - "Summer Nights" is one of those great movie songs that appeal to everyone. Made famous by John Travolta and Olivia Newton Jones in the movie "Grease" in 1978, the legacy of Danny and Sandy's summer fling lives on in the faux-'50s tune that warmed up to the top five at the height of the disco era.
