TXDOT has announced that West Loop 289 will be closed Monday, May 7th during the night hours to begin removing old striping from the road. Onramps, off-ramps and main lanes will be closed. The work will take between Slide and 34th Streets and the Loop.

The work is expected to start around 10 pm on Monday night, and wrap up by 4 am Tuesday morning. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to slow down and drive with caution through the work zone for their safety and the safety of the workers.

Next week TXDOT will restripe the same portions of the loop, though dates have not been announced. This work will also take place in the overnight hours.

So, if you use the Loop at night, plan to find another way to get where you are going!
