Hurricane Harvey's effect on coastal Texas has dropped from mainstream news- but many towns in Texas still need help to reconstruct after devastating losses.

Luckily, our dear friend (and my aunt) Jacqui Neal has partnered South Texas radio station, My Country 107.3, with Lubbock's McLuthier's Guitar Sales and Service (2838 34th St) and others to build and auction a completely unique instrument. A guitar will be made from dock wood found in debris by Jacqui and her husband Bill.

We will be following this story closely as we know Lubbockites love to help fellow Texans. I would be so proud if someone in Lubbock wins the auction for the guitar!

From Jacqui:

John McDonald, who owns McLuthier's Guitar Sales and Service, is partnering with a friend of his to build us a guitar, FREE, for our station, My Country 107.3, to auction off, with the proceeds going to hurricane relief here in the Coastal Bend.

The wood is from a dock in the Port Aransas/Rockport area that Bill and I found in a debris pile by the side of the road near the marina.

It has shells and barnacles embedded in it and even has the boat cleat that you tie your boat to, which John will use for the handle on the guitar case.

It's amazing that he is doing this for us and that they are so excited to do it! (exclamation point for ya, Justin)

He will be taking photos during the process for us to use for the auction and for blogs for our website, our sister station's and local media here.

I wanted to reach out to you first, in Lubbock.

This will be a one of a kind guitar with a lot of heart attached to it on many levels.

We hope to garner interest locally and in West Texas so as to get a sizeable amount for it.

Rockport, Ingleside and Port Aransas are SLOWLY coming back, but have just not received much support.

It's the coolest thing.  Texans helping Texans and that sweet, awesome West Texas spirit of benevolence and love.

If you feel it on your heart to donate to South Texas recovery efforts before the completion of the guitar there's many worthy charities including All Hands Volunteers.
