Two Teens Killed in Traffic Accident on Interstate 20
A chain-reaction wreck on Interstate 20 in Abilene resulted in the death of two sisters.
KAMC News reports the girls, ages 11 and 14, were killed when their vehicle was rear-ended by a truck during backed-up traffic. Abilene Police say that a heavy utility vehicle lost its rear axle and wheels, causing it to flip and roll.
While that wreck was being cleaned up, traffic was reduced to one lane resulting in slow traffic. That's when the vehicle containing the children was rear-ended by a truck that didn't slow down. The two children were killed in the crash and the driver, who happened to be their mother, was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover.
The driver of the utility vehicle in the initial accident was hospitalized, but is expected to recover.
The names of the two children and the mother have not been released.
