The San Antonio Based Reality Series "Friday Night Tykes" is Troubling to Watch

A lot of you may have seen a trailer for the upcoming reality show on the Esquire Network called "Friday Night Tykes." The show centers on the highly competitive world of Texas youth football in San Antonio.

The show is about an elite and very serious, independent youth football league in Texas, where the players are eight and nine years old. And the coaches are tough on the kids to say the least.

One coach tells his players to, quote, "Rip their freaking heads off and let them bleed." Another coach smacks a player in the head, while yelling, quote, "Don't give me that soft crap." The preview also shows multiple hard hits.

A rep for the Esquire Network says the show is supposed to be controversial. That was the whole point of doing it!

"We believe it brings up important and serious questions about parenting and safety in youth sports, and we encourage Americans to watch, debate and discuss these issues."
