Making old things new is what Resurrection Funky Junk, a project of the Lubbock Dream Center, prides itself in.

That stems from the East Lubbock neighborhood the LDC resides in, to one of its largest fundraisers, which offers upscale resale products ranging from restored furniture, trendy name brand clothing, purses, and shoes - as well as hosts numerous vendors that give a portion of their proceeds to the Dream Center.

This year's event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014.

And, for the Resurrection Funky Junk Trade Show, shoppers will be able to find a vast selection of shabby chic resurrected furniture, upscale resale clothing, home décor, jewelry, purses, Christmas décor, creative gifts, food, and much more, while blessing the Lubbock Dream Center, which continues to grow in the services and fill the need in its East Lubbock area.

"We have expanded, and will have more vendors then ever, so don't miss this unique, one-of-a-kind shopping experience that generates proceeds to benefit the Dream Center ministries," said Shanna Hargrave, Lubbock Dream Center Fundraising Coordinator.

Hargrave said that in 2007, a handful of people began walking the blocks of an East Lubbock neighborhood. They went door to door, visited with people, picked up trash, helped out the neighborhood schools, and built relationships with the people there.  They handed out food from a donated food truck to help meet the needs of some of these families.  Their consistency to show up and to spread kindness made an impact on this neighborhood and led to the vision for the Lubbock Dream Center.

The Dream Center is a non-profit organization that is reaching an economically disadvantaged neighborhood full of overlooked families and individuals in desperate need of a dream.

The Dream Center continues to minister to the Slaton/Bean neighborhood, but their impact has grown through partnerships with businesses, organizations, and churches and now reaches over 600 people every single week.  People come in with needs and they are walking out empowered, encouraged, and more independent, but most importantly, their hope is being restored.  The work of the Dream Center will continue to impact this community as well as the entire city of Lubbock.
