Texas Tech’s spring football kicks off at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Midland at Grande Communications Stadium for the second year in a row.

“Last year really exceeded expectation,” Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury said Tuesday. “We pulled up and there were 7,000 people tailgating, a raucous crowd for our players. We were excited and really pleased with that event, so we’re really glad we get to do it again this year.” -Avalanche Journal

Expect the Red raiders to run about 100 plays and the tailgaters to drink about 100 beers!

Also in Tech football news: The Denver Bronco we all know and love, Wes Welker, was in the Hub on Monday and had some words of inspiration for the current Red Raider regime. Everyone except the coaches. that is. That's right. Kingsbury tossed all the coaches out and what was said remains between the team and Welker...

“I made all the coaches leave so he could have some real talk with the team,” Kingsbury said. “They could ask some real questions, because they tend to not ask the same questions when we’re in there. I’m not sure what he said, but it must have been pretty good. I heard them pretty fired up in there.” -Avalanche Journal

I, for one, am ready for the 2014 Tech season and can't wait to see what Coach Kliff has in store for us!
