Over the Thanksgiving holiday, one of the older urgent care facilities in Lubbock closed its doors.

Texas Emergency Care Center (previously known as ER Centers of America), located at 5202 82nd Street, closed its doors and removed all signage from the building.

Two signs were posted at the main entrance, one stating that GRACO is the owner of the building, and a second sign telling potential patients with non-life threatening issues to go to STAR ER at Indiana Avenue and South Loop 289.

Texas Emergency Care Center was known as ER Centers of America when it first opened in Lubbock over three years ago. In September 2015, ER Centers of America was purchased by ER Holdings, based out of Frisco. Then, in August 2016, both ER Centers of America and ER Holdings were purchased by Family ER & Urgent Care, operating under the brand name Texas Emergency Care Center. After the sale was completed, the Lubbock facility changed its name to Texas Emergency Care Center.

Following the closure of the Lubbock branch of Texas Emergency Care Center, the company still has three locations in the Houston and Dallas metro areas.
