Well, think again!

Growing up, St. Patrick's day was simply a way to celebrate the Irish by wearing green (or getting pinched). Later in life, you celebrate with stuff like corned beef and cabbage, green beer or a pint of Guinness and 'The Luck of the Irish' (which isn't lucky at all), all while searching for your pot o' gold at the end of the rainbow.

Huffington Post article has cleared some things up.

First of all, St. Patrick wasn't Irish at all. He may actually have been born in Wales, Scotland or England. St. Patrick's color was blue, not green. And the holiday was actually invented in the good old USA. However, we don't think Hallmark had anything to do with this holiday!

Check out the article for some additional facts about this holiday we celebrate here in the states as an excuse to over-imbibe and pinch the heck out of loved ones and co-workers for wearing the wrong colors!
