The survey by Alarm Systems Review compared property and violent crime rates per 1,000 residents.

According to the site:

Using completed data available from the FBI, including the most recent annual Uniform Crime Report, we compiled and analyzed source data to identify the safest places to live in the state of Texas. To ensure the accuracy of our analysis, we ignored cities and towns with populations below 2,500 residents as well as those who did not show completed filings with the Federal government.

Now, let's back up a bit. Texas overall comes in at 39th out of 50th states, but out of the towns, Shallowater is in tall cotton. Shallowater scored a perfect 0.0 for the reporting period in violent crime and a 2.0 for property crimes.

So what about our other neighbors? Wolforth came in at no. 33, Tahoka at no. 73, Muleshoe at no. 74, Denver City at no. 80, Seagraves at no. 82 and Abernathy at no. 95.
