I have an immense love of the quirky, the eclectic and the unique. My living room is decorated with vintage wicker mannequin parts (I have a drink table that's a pair of legs), a real, full-size harpoon and a glass unicorn bust, among many other oddball items. I don't own a single piece of new furniture -- it's all upcycled, vintage and totally awesomely unique to me.

My honey and I believe in reuse, recycling, repair and DIY as a fundamental part of who we are.

That's why the Ruffles and Rust Expo speaks to me. According to their press release:

It’s an upscale boutique show with a small town feel. The Ruffles and Rust Expo has quickly become a shopper’s favorite. These are shoppers who are attracted to an eclectic mix of unique upscale furniture and clothing, all things blingy, vintage and handmade. The Ruffles and Rust Expo features over 100 vendors from five different states and brings them to one location. These are juried vendors that offer a carefully curated treasure trove of furniture, home decor, jewelry, boutique apparel and handcrafted goods, each chosen specifically for quality and mix.

So you might not find mannequin parts like a real weirdo, but you will probably find lovely vintage and antique furniture that's been carefully and professional restored. There will also be clothes, jewelry and I'm sure a ton of great gift items.

Admission is $5 per person, with kids 12 and under free. The event is 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. For more information, you can visit their website.
