Freshman Gabby Barker shot a 3-under 69 to help propel the Texas Tech women’s golf team into the match play round at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships in Bradenton, Florida Monday.

The Red Raiders started the round on the back nine, but trailed by seven shots heading into the final nine holes.

Barker, Stephanie Bertelsen, Lauren Mason, and Kimmy Hill all birdies the par-5 number three to pull within one shot of eighth place with six holes left to play.

Barker also carded birdies on holes 17,18,1 and 5. She also bogeyed two of her final three holes, but Berelsen drained a seven-foot putt for par on the ninth hole to secure the red Raidreas spot in match play.

Tech wound up shooting even par on the back nine finishing  tied for sixth (319-294-307-292—1212) with Tennesee

"What an unbelievable day," head coach JoJo Robertson. "They had no doubt that they could come out here and shoot a number like this again today. I could not be more proud of these girls and all the hard work they put in. It's incredible."

Tech, which enters match play as the seven seed, will face second seed Duke  in the quarterfinal round Tuesday.
