NWS Launching Experimental Snow Forecasting Page for Lubbock
The National Weather Service office in Lubbock will be experimenting with new software that could predict snow amounts and where snow could fall. The launch happens just days before some in the Lubbock area could see their first snow of the season.
The Lubbock office of the National Weather Service will launch the new "Range of Possibilities" Snow Forecasting Page on December 1.
According to the NWS Lubbock Twitter account, Lubbock is one of just a few offices experimenting with the new products.
The site could come in handy for those with early commutes into work and for those at City Hall who will be paying very close attention to winter storms this season after the Blizzard Lubbock saw in 2015.
The NWS Lubbock office tweeted out the following image as a "real time" example of the probability of two inches of snow over the next 72 hours. The example shows the city of Lubbock having a low chance of receiving that much snow.
