Nelly is receiving some major pushback after it was announced that he would be performing in the middle east.

The St. Louis native is scheduled to perform in Saudi Arabia on December 14 in Jiddah alongside Algerian singer Cheb Khaled. Many Saudia's have said that they're not too pleased with Nelly coming to their country to perform, expressing their discomfort with the country's Entertainment Authority due to Nelly having negative headlines associated with his name. He was recently arrested for an alleged rape prior to performing at one of his concerts in October, though his accuser later declined to pursue the allegations.

When news spread on social media, people also openly pointed out that Nelly plead guilty to possession of marijuana back in 2015. In Saudi Arabia, the smuggling of drugs is taken very seriously—so seriously that it is punishable by death.

Since a lot of Nelly's music openly discusses women in a sexual manner, having sex, and smoking weed, fans wonder what will he be able to perform. The concert will also be an all-male audience. This has caused many people to publicly express their outrage that Nelly would even consider performing under those circumstances.

The concert will be big for the Saudi Kingdom. Up until recently music performances were heavily restricted. New reforms for the country have been led by 32-year-old Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The plan is to rejuvenate Saudi leisure activities.
