U.S. Marine 2nd Lt. Priscilla A. Malone of Lubbock, Texas is one of many soldiers helping the Nepalese government following the deadly 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit the country in late April.

According to the U.S. Department of Defense, 2nd Lt. Malone works as an intelligence officer at the Joint Task Force 505 forward camp in Kathmandu, Nepal. The task force is comprised of personnel from across the U.S. Military.

The task force responded at the request of the Nepalese government with joint capabilities and relief supplies after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on April 25.

The death toll after the April 25 earthquake in Nepal topped 8,000 people. Another earthquake hit the country Tuesday (May 12), killing dozens more.
