Lubbock police officers responded to a home in the 5700 block of 62nd Street at 8:30 p.m. Sunday night where a male had just attempted to kidnap a 20-year-old female resident.

Officers were told that the suspect knocked on the door and claimed there was a water leak at the home. When the female walked outside to check, the victim grabbed her and began to hit her multiple times. The victim was able to kick free as she was being dragged away and ran into the home to call police. She was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Upon further investigation, it appears the same suspect came to the house a few days earlier to ask for help in locating a missing dog.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, possibly 30 to 40 years old, around 5'7" and 250 pounds. He has not yet been located.

Anyone with information about this suspect or incident is asked to call Crime Line at (806) 741-1000. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
