Lubbock police officers and detectives investigating a homicide inside a home on Avenue P were confronted by a shooting victim who drove his vehicle to the scene with his shooter in pursuit.

Authorities visited an Avenue P home Tuesday night (September 6) after receiving a welfare check call from a nearby resident. The caller told police that they hadn't seen the neighbor recently and were concerned about their well-being.

When officers entered the home, they discovered the body of one person with suspicious injuries. A homicide call-out was then made, according to Lubbock Police Department PIO Lt. Ray Mendoza.

Just after midnight during the homicide investigation at the Avenue P home, a seemingly unrelated shooting victim drove his vehicle up to the residence. The victim, 25-year-old Miguel Flores, told officers at the scene that he had been shot and his shooter(s) was following him.

Officers on the scene acted quickly and gave chase to the suspects' vehicle. However, they eventually lost sight of it.

Flores was transported to UMC with non-life threatening injuries.

Both investigations are ongoing. The homicide victim's name has yet to be released. Anyone with information about either crime can contact the Crime Line at: 806-741-1000.
